There seem to be conflicting opinions on almost every issue concerning gifted children

This is definitely true.  The study of gifted children and their needs is relatively new, and research is still young.  Even among the various experts in the field, there are greatly differing, even opposing, opinions on many of the most serious issues.

My explanations and advice are based on my own experience, my academic studies, and the experience I have gained working with gifted children and their families over the past 11 years, but they are inevitably influenced by my personal priorities and value system, as are those of everyone else.

This is why it is important for you, the parents or teachers or friends of gifted children, to collect information from as many different sources as possible, to talk or communicate with other parents, to think about your own experiences and understanding of your child, and to decide for yourself whose advice seems best to suit your child and your circumstances.
